· Interviews and recommends potential employees.
· Purchases and maintains an inventory of all foods, supplies, and equipment.
· Plans menus, following the USDA guidelines for breakfast and lunch. Check grocery orders for proper
amounts of food being prepared. Checks daily planned work schedules that show the amount of food used and left over. Plans special meals, banquets and receptions.
· Directs personal and public relations for the division of Food Service.
· Oversee budget and check invoices for proper charges and accuracy before presenting them to the business manager for payment.
· Directs nutrition education for employees and tasting parties for children. Participates, plans, implements nutrition education, surveys, health and wellness guidelines per district Wellness Committee program.
· Implementation of school board policies, state and federal regulations.
· Directs parent and teacher involvement for the division.
· Keeps commodity records and reports. Acts as subagent for Lakeview, Marvell, Elaine, Barton-Lexa School Districts.
· Provides in-service training for managers and workers.
· Supervision of standardized recipes, and proper kitchen procedures regarding government regulations, meal counts.
· Random visitation of cafeterias during lunch and breakfast twice a month.
· Assists the business manager in Food Service policies, guidelines, financial planning and forecasting.
· Prepares specifications and bid conditions for all items requiring bids by law or school board.
· Reviews and evaluates requests for equipment purchases.
· Reporting to Arkansas State Department of Child Nutrition all claims for reimbursements, economic status of school district regarding severe need.
· Assists the principals and teachers in the instructional phases of the food service program regarding
nutrition.
· Develops, implements and evaluates goals/objectives for the district’s child nutrition program.
· Develops a plan to increase student participation in the school breakfast and lunch program.
· Implements the appropriate use of the point-of-service (POS) software including operation, updating and training of child nutrition staff and coordinating with IT staff.
· Ensures that all food safety and sanitation regulations per Arkansas Department of Health and USDA are followed in all operations.
· Ensures that appropriate cash handling practices are followed with an audit trail.
· Supervise and evaluate the performance of food service staff.
· Performs office routines, meeting sales personnel, and attending meetings that are beneficial to the food service program.
· Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or the Superintendent's designee.
